Tiffany & Co. Rubedo Collection

Categories:Jewelry & Watches

IMAGE: TIFFANY & CO.

This isn’t exactly a new thing, but with Mother’s Day just around the corner, I thought it would be apt just to quickly go through Tiffany & Co.’s Rubedo collection that’s truly quite easy on the eyes. A new alloy conceived by Tiffany, it’s a mix of gold, silver and copper for a finish that resembles the rosiest of sunsets, a welcoming hug of warmth if you will.

Created in honour of their 175th anniversary, you’ll find a selection of Rubedo pieces (Rubedo is red in Latin, by the way) at their stores in Singapore, including their spanking new street-facing duplex at ION Orchard. Pieces like the Tiffany 1837 cuffs (shown above) that start from SGD6900 to simple bangles priced at SGD2950. The wide Tiffany 1837 ring (shown on the left above) is priced at SGD1150, great for those who like a little heft and shine on their finger.

Other pieces of note include the Enchant cuff (yes, that’s the ‘lacy’ cut-out one on the right), another stunner of a piece that won’t look out of place on say, your mother’s wrist. Priced at SGD4600, there are also more affordable pieces, from the Return To Tiffany Heart Tag Pendant to bracelets, earrings and rings.

Paloma Faith Visits David Letterman in a Pair of Very Bright Dolce & Gabbana Boots

Paloma Faith Dolce & Gabbana Printed Knee High Boots

Here’s British singer-songwriter Paloma Faith, doing the press line outside of The Late Show’sstudio in a full-on Dolce & Gabbana outfit, which includes an especially outlandish pair Dolce & Gabbana Printed Knee-High Boots. You can find the same boots with a brocade motif for$4,495 at LUISAVIAROMA.

I can imagine how this colorful, eccentric ensemble would translate extremely well on stage, but it does look a little kooky on an NYC sidewalk in broad daylight. Paloma’s personal style is quite quirky, of course. We saw her in London last year in a very Florida-normcore sort of get-up, carrying the MCM Heritage Medium Backback, which was insanely popular at the time.

Dolce & Gabbana’s Spain-Inspired Spring 2015 Bags Include Doll Cases

Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2015 Handbags 4

At a certain point, it feels moot to review a Dolce & Gabbana collection. The Italian duo has more or less exempted itself from the vagaries of producing collections that correspond to particular seasons, trends or weather varieties; instead, they fill their seasonal collections with the same intricate, history-laden Mediterranean details they always do, and consumers gobble it up like Dolce might up and quit before fall.

For Spring 2015, the pair moved their aesthetic from Sicily to Spain, but the results were mostly the same as you’d expect, if slightly more red. The bags, too, were pretty much what we’ve come to expect–Sicily satchels, detailed box clutches with top handles, mini bags. The notable exceptions were the box-encased dolls that a couple of models. As for the dolls: I’ve seen no definitive word on what they are or what their significance is, but I’m sure Dolce’s VIP clients will be fighting to get them.

Kate Beckinsale Travels Like a Movie Star With a Dolce & Gabbana Bag

Kate Beckinsale Dolce & Gabbana Monica Satchel

Here’s Kate Beckinsale, arriving at LAX to board a flight. She’s carrying an extremely chic grey Dolce & Gabbana Monica Satchel (though it’s entirely possible that this bag looks more chic on the arm of Kate Beckinsale than it ever will again). The Monica is named after Italian actress/model Monica Bellucci, and it’s brand new for Fall 2014.

Celebrities are obviously under a lot of pressure to look perfect 24/7, which seems like an unattainable standard. But then there’s Kate Beckinsale, who clearly never risks exposing herself to paparazzi cameras if she looks anything less the flawless. (I imagine if she ever gets a blemish, she just sits at home alone for several days with the shades drawn.) This is where the bar is set, B through D-listers! Be advised.

Dolce & Gabbana Debuts Three One-of-a-Kind Exotic Patchwork Bags

Categories:Other Brands

Dolce & Gabbana Exotic Sicily Bags

The whole trick of the luxury industry is to make consumers feel like they’re buying something rare when, in actuality, whatever we’re buying is almost certainly made in enormous quantities. As the industry expands, putting your hands on something unique gets harder and harder, which is why I took note of these Dolce & Gabbana Sicily Small Patchwork Exotic Bags atLUISAVIAROMA – they’re all one-of-a-kind.

Most brands produce one-of-a-kind pieces here and there to display in stores or offer to their best clients, but it’s not often that a brand as big as Dolce & Gabbana offers something totally unique at a third-party retailer, especially an exotic piece. Each bag is made from different-colored panels of crocodile and snakeskin, except for the bottom, which is leather. Also, each bag retails for right under $3,000, and although its not a bargain, it’s not nearly as much as most exotic bags from major brands usually cost, let alone a one-off piece.

For me, the winner of the trio is the bag with the pale blue crocodile flap; the contrast against the yellow snakeskin underneath is beautiful. Which is your favorite?
