We all know Tods Classic Gommino Collection – a series of formal shoes. But for the Spring Summer 2015 (yes its still available in store), the fashion brand did something different. They dropped the Gommino Bag.
Let’s see whether we love it or leave it.
First of all, the collection consists only a shopping bag and a hobo bag. The shopping bag is quite minimalistic, besides the studs on the bottom. They’re crafted in single colors and marked with the brand’s logo on the top. Featuring Selleria-inspired double handles, which are adjustable, and the bottom is inspired by the iconic rubber pebbled.
The interior is quite large and it includes pockets. Measuring 37.5 x 33 x 8 cm, priced at $1545 USD.
Let’s check out the Hobo bag, shall we? The design is quite the same – minimal, embellished with rubber studs on the bottom and printed with the brand’s logo on the top. The bag is smaller in size to fits on your shoulder and it comes with shorter strap of course. Measuring 39 x 33 x 13.5 cm and priced at $1765. You can find them on Tods e-store.
So what do you think? Rather spend your money somewhere else?
If you ever walked into Tod’s and left the boutique empty-handed because there just wasn’t a Gommino loafer in that exact combination you wanted, you can now rest easy and know that will never happen again with the introduction of the newTod’s Gommino Club service.
Step into any Tod’s boutique offering this customisation service now and you’ll be presented with a kit that contains leather swatches in different colours, examples of ‘Scooby Doo’ laces (that’s the corded leather detailing you see on the front of the shoe) and examples of hot-stamp styles that you can opt for further personalisation by way of including your initials, which all in all gives you up to 100,000 combinations, almost guaranteeing that no two pairs created from this process will be alike.
Made with the same care and workmanship as regular Gommino loafers, complete with all 133 rubber pebbles (or gommini) on the sole, each shoe requires up to 35 pieces of leather and 100 steps to put together, which also equates to about a month’s wait from the submission of your order. Along with shipping to its final destination, that will add another 15 to 30 days, which ultimately isn’t so bad if you plan ahead, especially since it would make such a unique gift.
Priced at SGD910 a pair, you can now pop into Tod’s Paragon or within Takashimaya Department Store to create a pair (or 3) that’s truly made-to-order in the colour combination that you love. Or click here to watch the short accompanying video.
