Something was definitely in the air this week, because we found an abundance of Louis Vuitton bags on our Instagram feed; we’re certainly not complaining! You know what they say: the heart wants what the heart wants, and it’s clear that our Instagram followers’ hearts are smitten over LV.

CÉLINE FASHION WEEK
Last December, it was reported in the fashion press that Anouck Duranteau-Loeper, Céline'saccessories director for the entirety of Phoebe Philo's handbag-happy tenure at the brand, would be leaving to take a position at the newly revitalized Paco Rabanne. Based on the publicly available information and Duranteau-Loeper's LinkedIn profile, it looks as though she has stayed on at Céline in some capacity, but the new gig means that her involvement in the day-to-day creation of the brand's accessories is likely now significantly limited, or at least significantly different. That might not be such a good thing for the brand's handbags.
Céline showed its Spring collection in Paris over the weekend, and although the clothes were as impeccable and modern as we've long come to expect from one of the industry's greatest minds, the handbags fell flat. They did last season, too. Philo has a penchant for generally keeping the line's bestsellers off the runway, but because there's currently no heir apparent to the brand's wildly popular Luggage, Trapeze and Classic Box bags, fans were surely hoping to get a glimpse of the Next Big Thing.
The Tie Tote seemed positioned to take up the brand's handbag momentum, but consumer response to it hasn't rivaled what the brand has enjoyed in previous years and with previous bags. It would be silly to write off Céline's accessories department at this point, but the Next Big Thing certainly isn't any of the weird, round bags below.

NATIONAL HANDBAG DAY PURSEBLOG ASKS
Creating an It Bag requires a little bit of alchemy. Designers can follow all of the correct design steps, put all their marketing dollars behind a design, cast the perfect It Girl for the campaign and still fall well short of handbag hysteria. With that in mind, who are all those variables coming together for right now?
Céline's Luggage Tote was the last industry-shifting It Bag; the kind of phenomenon that doesn't come around every season or even every year. Céline's Trapeze was a strong follow-up, but like all the pretty, popular Chloé bags that came after the Paddington, it never inspired quite the devotion of the original. It'll probably be a while before the industry manages to produce the perfect bag at the perfect time again, but in the meantime, here are three bags that are competing for the title.
By your definition, what's the biggest It Bag in the industry right now?
1 / 3
The Chanel Boy Bag
Although it's definitely possible to stride into a Chanel boutique and stride out moments later with a brand new Boy Bag in tow, it's not always that easy. Both seasonal versions and popular neutrals quickly become scarce after new shipments arrive, and because Chanel only sells its bags through its own boutiques, the options for finding the version you want are extremely limited.
2 / 3
The Mansur Gavriel Bucket Bag
Despite its attainable price point, the scarcity of the bag and the compelling story of the indie upstart brand that created it have made these bags all but impossible to put your hands on for three seasons running. The waitlists, the pre-payments, the scheming to find the most popular color combinations--all classic signs of an It Bag, even if the contemporary price point makes this an unusually accessible example.
3 / 3
Fendi is a brand, not a bag, but the company has won hearts and minds over the past few seasons not by producing a single great accessories achievement, but instead by subtly shifting its entire handbag business and then spinning off new ideas based on what works. Like the 2Jours? You'll love the 3Jours. Like the 3Jours? Try the Petite 3Jours, which isn't so much a smaller version as it is a more compact-feeling bag that's still large enough to carry to work. Remember the Peekaboo? It hasn't been popular in a couple years, but somehow, Fendi has made it feel like the freshest thing ever.
On board with all of that? Finish it off with a Bag Bug, if you can get a spot on the waitlist for the one you want. And when you get it, you'll want to put it on everything, which, in effect, turns every bag you own into a Fendi ad. Fendi is pitching a perfect game right now, and there's little indication that'll change in the near future.

After the Courier handbags come the Lunch Bags, after the Lunch Bags come the brand new Proenza Schouler Elliot Bags. Now, do you love?
READ: Proenza Schouler Courier Handbags
To summarize the story of the PS Courier handbags, it’s the first time, for us, to taste Proenza Schouler in the form of minimalism (I mean design, you know;)). The Courier was purposely made… ‘super soft’. And now back to the Elliot.
The Proenza Schouler Elliot Shoulder Bag is the upgrade version of the Courier – it’s mixed between Proenza Schouler (what we had been used to) and minimalism. Proenza Schouler because of the classic turnlock closure and minimalism because its simple, just like its sister, the Courier.
Made with different leathers like suede and Crocodile leather, it comes with an adjustable shoulder strap and the exterior is embellished with a pocket on the back. The interior comes with two pockets.
What also captured my attention, is the brand-new Elliot Satchel Bag. Made with smooth leather and with two top handles. It comes with an additional shoulder strap, the interior comes with a pouch pocket and one zip pocket.
